That all changed in 1994 when two dope boys in a cadillac dropped the hip-hop classic known as, "Southerplayalisticadillacmuzik." Note(s): Undoubtedly established as one of hip-hop’s innovators and greats both through his work as a member of A Tribe Called Quest and as a solo artist, this is a night that instead features work Q-Tip has done for releases outside of his own body of work. From hip-hop to r&b, jazz to latin music, Q-Tip has been placing his unique sense of rhythm and vibe on music listeners since 1987.

Again on a solo mission, ThaiMex decided to show the level of influence Q-Tip has on music in creating a vibe. Although there is a rich history that has been created by Q-Tip's creative endeavors, ThaiMex decided not to play a single song by A Tribe Called Quest or Q-Tip's solo body of work to prove his point. Instead, he played songs by everyone else that featured Q-Tip.

Note(s): The beginning of the 1990's was a time of a lot of movement for hip-hop in general but particularly in the West Coast. This era brought about a new mentality among the California scene as artists focused on lyrical precision and artistry. Among some of those to emerge were Project Blowed, Hieroglyphics and, of course, Imani, Bootie Brown, Fatlip and SlimKid3; we are talking about none other than The Pharcyde!

ThaiMex and Santanna Hill decided to shine a spotlight, play some music, and provide commentary on the crew from Los Angeles that has been active hip-hop, both as a group and as soloists in a number of ways since at least 1990.
