Playlist: 06/24/10 - In Memory of...

Date: 06/24/10
Note(s): The “King of Pop” passed away on June 25, 2009. Although his influence goes much farther than anyone would ever be able to cover in two hours, your folks at The Barbershop decided to pay a little tribute to Mr. Michael Joseph Jackson by playing some of his music and some of the sounds, songs, and artists he has influenced on the eve of the 1-year anniversary of his passing. We hope that at some point during the night, everyone found the time to make a couple spins, attempt a moonwalk, grab their crotch and scream out of respect for him.

Guest DJ Low-L came through to fill in and provide some additional insight regarding the King of Pop due to Santanna Hill's work-related absence.

Playlist: 06/10/10 - Family Trees, Vol. 3: The Soulquarians

Date: 06/10/10
Note(s): ThaiMex and Santanna Hill decided to take it light and chill this evening with a collective that mostly share sign of Aquarius as well as share a common interest for the unconventional, offbeat rhythms, irregular chords, and other traits often exhibited by underground urban music. An amazing powerhouse of artists, we are talking of none other than The Soulquarians. Although there seems to be no "official" or "definitive" word on this association, you can find a pretty good write-up about them HERE.
Based on the number of both core and peripheral members, ThaiMex and Santanna Hill came to the conclusion there could probably be a "Part 2" to this show. For now, enjoy the playlist they provided for the night:

Date: 06/03/10
Note(s): A discussion between ThaiMex and Santanna Hill led to an inquiry which led to a realization: Easy Mo Bee was killin' it in the mid- to late-90's!!! Your boys at The Barbershop decided to shine a Producer Spotlight on the man who, whether you realized it or not, had your head nodding the hardest from about 1994-1998.
